foodbank.city Spotlights Barcode & UPC Scanning for Fast, Accurate Inventory and Checkout
Food banks scan UPC codes to instantly look up product information, add items to inventory, or check items out during a distribution
October 23, 2026 – foodbank.city, the cloud-based food bank management platform, today highlighted its Barcode & UPC Scanning feature, part of its Inventory & Donations tools. Barcode & UPC Scanning lets food banks scan UPC codes to instantly look up product information.
Keeping inventory accurate takes time when every item has to be entered by hand. With Barcode & UPC Scanning, staff and volunteers scan an item's UPC code and the product information comes up right away, so they can add the item to inventory in moments.
The same scan works at the other end of the process. During a distribution, items can be checked out by scanning their UPC codes, which keeps the work fast and accurate.
Barcode & UPC Scanning is part of foodbank.city's Inventory & Donations tools and, like every tool in the platform's complete feature set, is included with no extra costs.
